ANNUAL BAZAAR

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2

The time is getting closer so we are now working on scheduling the volunteers required for the week before and the day of the event.

The Breakfast café will be open thanks to Jim, so if you wish to help in the kitchen if you have not already been asked, please speak to him directly.

We will be setting up the hall starting Tuesday so will need at least 4-5 volunteers to help set up, bring items from basement, and decorate so any able-bodied people will be greatly appreciated.

The hope is to have as many members of the congregation baking squares, cookies, etc. so that we have a large bake table to sell. The bake teams are baking up any fruit pies that are left unsold to sell along with meat pies. It will also be the last day for accepting pre-orders for Take & Bake Tourtière with pick up Dec. 8.

There will also be Nearly New Penny Sale, Seasonal Table, Gift Table, and finally the kick-off for the $500 cash draw that will be drawn Sunday, Dec. 17.

We are asking if you would please share the poster and spread the word.

We are looking for various new or good household items and Christmas items to be donated. It’s a good time of year to clean out that closet or kitchen for items that can be sold on the Nearly New table.  We have ample storage, so bring your items in on Sundays, or can be left in the back office on the table.

More information about the event, what we are looking for, and the volunteer list will be coming leading up to the event.

And last but not least if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Carol Wade 905-933-9950.

Our Priest

A MESSAGE FROM FATHER JOHN COURSE

A Message from Our Interim Priest-in-Charge

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It was with great pleasure that I accepted the position of Interim Priest-in-Charge here at Holy Trinity for the next six or so months.  Although I am here only on a half-time basis, I will do my best to ensure that all of the wonderful ministry initiated here during Fr. Tom’s tenure and before will continue into the future.

My history with Holy Trinity Welland goes back many years.  I visited your church a few times in the 1960s when my father brought me here as a boy.  At that time, my father, who was also the rector of St. Brendan the Navigator, Port Colborne, assisted your rector, The Ven. Allen Hill, with his ministry here at Holy Trinity.  Then, during the latter 1980s while I was back at seminary studying for my doctorate, I served here as a part-time Priest Associate for a little over a year when The Ven. Laughton Binns was your rector.

Given this history, I look forward to being reacquainted with your longstanding parishioners and with those I have met over the years while I served as rector of St. David’s Welland.  I also look forward to getting to know those whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting.

This coming Sunday will be Remembrance Sunday, a time when, during our church services, we remember and give thanks for the men and women who have served and who continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict, and peace.  With the current wars in Gaza and in Ukraine very much on our minds these days, while we remember our soldiers past and present, we also continue to pray that a lasting peace and justice will, one day, prevail in all the parts of our world which are currently undergoing conflict.

I hope you will be able to join us for our Remembrance Sunday services.

With every blessing,

John

The Ven. Dr. John Course
